The aim of this memorial trail is to bring memory alive by recalling the acts of war that took place here in June 1940 by the Alpine troops who were responsible for defending the Alpine border, and to pay tribute to the combatants on both sides, now united under the banner of Europe.
Through the history of the Section d'Éclaireurs-Skieurs (SES) commanded by Lieutenant Costa de Beauregard of the 83rd BAF (Bataillon Alpin de Forteresse) and the actions of the various works on the outpost line, hikers will realise that here in Val d'Oronaye - Larche, as in many other places in the Alpine arc, despite the country's defeat, the Army of the Alps remained undefeated.
