The hike starts from the Champbellet ski lift parking lot, but the recommended parking lot is the large Roubion parking lot opposite the La Lame campsite.
From the Roubion parking lot, head for the heights of the hamlet, passing the Coccinella and the grocery store, then fork left to pass the Chocolaterie. At the crossroads opposite Chapelle des Âmes, keep left until you reach the Champbellet ski lift parking lot.
From the parking lot, take the wide dirt track which rises straight up through fields and clapières (ignore the left-hand track leading to the houses). The track soon becomes a path lined with small copses, and finally reaches the edge of the forest.
Once you've reached the fork in the woods, ignore the right-hand path and continue straight ahead: the path gradually rises through the Forêt Domaniale de la Clarée, overhanging the second wide track running alongside the Roubion torrent.
The path soon comes to a second fork in the road, so take the left-hand path, which rises steadily, marks a few hairpin bends, a short descent and ascent, and then descends very gradually, skirting the Crête de Côte Belle.
The balcony trail continues above the clapières.
Soon, a fork in the road leads to the hamlet of Le Cros. Ignore the fork and continue straight ahead on the balcony path towards La Tarroche, a small rocky promontory overlooking the hamlet of Ville Haute.
At Ville-Haute, the path finally leads to an itinerary that takes you to the Creux des Souches: continue downhill on this path to reach the D301T and the hamlet of Ville-Haute.
The second part of the hike follows the right bank of the Clarée back to the starting point. To do this, reach the Saint-Marcellin church and its gate, then turn left after it to cross the Pont de l'Outre.
After the bridge, take the left-hand track (ignore the right-hand GR) to reach the Ferme et Auberge du Clot. Pass in front of the inn's terrace, then take the small footbridge that crosses a stream. The path quickly joins Les Planchettes, then the Pont de Fortville.
Don't cross the Pont de Fortville, preferring to take the path just to the right before the bridge: this runs along the Clarée towards the Camping de la Lame, before reaching your starting point.
