The Partias loop

This 15 km trail, with 914 m of ascent, is located in the Izoard sector and offers total immersion in the heart of the Partias nature reserve. Departure is from Puy Chalvin, just below the ferme de l'Espérance, for a wild and varied loop combining effort and contemplation.

The route begins with a gradual, winding ascent to Rocher de la Roure. Once there, the trail heads towards the Col de la Trancoulette, the most strenuous point on the route, before heading downhill over scree to Lac des Partias, a haven of freshness in the heart of the mountain pastures.

The rest of the route follows a balcony path overlooking Les Combes. After descending from the lake, the slope picks up again, offering superb panoramic views of the valley and surrounding peaks. The final descent to Puy Chalvin is made on a panoramic, flowing path, first, then undergrowth.

Throughout the loop, there's a succession of atmospheres: undergrowth, open alpine pastures, wetlands, torrents and balcony passages. This diversity makes the route particularly pleasant and fast-paced, with no major technical difficulties. Three uphill sections concentrate the physical effort, but the route remains accessible to both regular and more experienced runners.

A water point is available at the intersection of the paths off the Route des Combes - a great asset for summer outings.
