This pretty little family hike takes you through a larch forest on a wide, gently sloping route to a viewpoint overlooking Briançon and its forts.
From the Chalmettes parking lot:
Join the Durancia center. Take the path alongside the building on the left (towards Espace multi-activité).
At the Durance bridge, turn right onto the Bois de Sestrières path.
Immediately after the picnic area, take the downhill path on the right (towards le tour du bois). Descend to Pierre verte.
Here, turn left in the direction of Montgenèvre to follow a track that winds its way up to the belvedere for a magnificent view of Fort Dauphin and Fort des Têtes.
From the belvedere, follow the forest track back to your starting point.
