This cycling route between heaven and earth, alternating between gems of the Haut-Var and vertiginous balconies overlooking the Verdon, promises a complete experience. Its wild splendour must be earned: make sure you are well prepared to conquer every hill on this exceptional loop.
Leave Aiguines via the D957 raod then the D19 road towards Aups, to the south. After 8 km, turn right and continue straight on until the next crossroads. Turn left. Pass through the village of Vérignon, a small haven of peace isolated among the oak trees. Continue south on the D49 road. The road winds and gradually descends. Turn left to reach Ampus. Cycle through Ampus. This is an ideal spot for a coffee break in the village square. Continue straight ahead towards the east to reach the spectacular Châteaudouble road. Cycle through the village. It is literally clinging to a cliff overlooking the Nartuby Gorges. The view from the road is breathtaking. Continue on the D51 road and then join the D955 road. Turn left onto the D955 road towards Montferrat, to the north. Cycle through this charming village with its flowers by the river. Follow the D955 road, which climbs steadily through the hills. Continue to Comps-sur-Artuby. Leave the Provençal atmosphere behind and return to the harsher pre-Alpine landscapes. Pass through the village and prepare to enter the final section. On leaving Comps, turn left onto the D71 road. Cross the Artuby bridge, then follow the left bank of the Verdon Gorges. The road will finally take you back to Aiguines, with a bird's eye view of the Sainte-Croix lake to complete the loop.
