Day 1 Program: Welcome at 9am at the Digne-les-Bains tourist office, then meet at 9:30am in the car park of the Museum Walk with a geologist, bring walking shoes to take a path, marked with works of contemporary art, to the exhibition rooms of the Maison des Remparts. The geologist will introduce you to the different exhibition rooms to understand this remarkable natural heritage that is 300 million years old. At 11:30am guided tour of the ammonite slab, one of the emblematic sites of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence, a Jurassic seabed that concentrates more than 1500 fossils. At 12pm travel by vehicle to the heights of Digne-les-Bains, in the small hilltop village of Courbons, for a picnic and geological reading of landscapes. From 14pm to 18pm free access to the aquatic area of the Spa thermal de Haute-Provence (closed on Tuesdays). End of the day, check-in to your room from 16 p.m.
Day 2 Program: Departure towards the Bès valley (20 min from Digne, direction Barles D900) near the Clue du Pérouré for a day of immersive hiking in freedom. You will reach the abandoned hamlet of Vieil Esclangon (2h30 – 5km – 350m) at the foot of the Blayeul Mountain. You will pass by the Refuge d'Art du Veil Esclangon and continue to the Collet viewpoint which offers an exceptional panorama of the velodrome on the right bank of the Bès, the return will be by the same route. Picnic break (to be planned) near the Bès footbridge, on the river bank. Then departure for the Lame de Facibelle hike (4h – 11 km – 550m). You will climb into a beautiful beech forest, to pass at the foot of the spectacular Lame de Facibelle, a monumental geological curiosity.
