The result of a delicious blend of the Alps and Provence, the Alpes de Haute-Durance apple is of exceptional quality. Cooked in all its forms on our plates, we find its roundness and colour gradients along our valleys. With orchards stretching as far as the eye can see, Sisteron Buëch is adorned with white and pink flowers in spring.
Your stay begins gently with a visit to a farm where apples have been grown for generations. With a range of products on offer (apple juice, sparkling wine, vinegar, etc.), Laurence and her orchards will introduce you to the life of an arborist under the Provençal sun.
Extend the sweetness of this day by strolling through the surrounding hilltop villages: Upaix, Mison or Thèze. The listed architecture they protect blends in harmoniously with the colourful apple orchards. A sublime view with the snow-capped mountains in the background (depending on the season)!
The evening continues in Le Caire (in the 04 department, of course!). Annie and Jean-Marc are waiting to introduce you to the local cuisine, featuring regional products as well as produce from their own garden! The bed and breakfast they run with passion is nestled in the heart of the mountains. You will fall asleep in total silence and wake up to the sound of birds singing.
After a vitamin-packed breakfast, it's time to set off for the day's activity: the Grande Fistoire via ferrata. With its three zip lines, you'll have a breathtaking view of the apple orchards from above! An original way to visit them, don't you think?
As your stay draws to a close, fill your pockets with delicious apples from the Alpes de Haute-Durance to cook with or simply enjoy on their own.
