A family holiday combining snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and dog sledding, in the Clarée Valley, an ideal Nordic site for discovering snow far from mechanized resorts.
A real "snow" cocktail for the whole family, with cross-country skiing, Nordic ski touring, snowshoeing and, as an option, an introduction to driving a sled dog team: it's decided, this year, you'll be taking your hiking boots to the snow, giving up your alpine skis to discover other snow activities of your choice, in a natural valley covered in snow from Christmas to Easter, under the sun of the Hautes-Alpes: the Clarée valley at Névache in the north of the Briançonnais region.

In this magical, unspoilt setting, you'll discover new pleasures: silence with only the clear waters of the Clarée flowing by, the crunch of your cross-country skis gliding over the snow, the clucking of a disturbed ptarmigan and the howling of sled dogs impatient to get out on the trail!

ACTIVITIES

Tourism and traditional activities are symbiotic.
Our team of instructors offers a range of snow activities to suit all tastes: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, Nordic walking, tobogganing, snowmen.
Every evening, our instructors will suggest different activities for you to sign up for. You'll all be able to try cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and the discovery session on driving a dog team.

If any of you want to do just one activity for the whole week, you'll be able to do so, with the exception of carriage driving (1 session only) and Nordic walking.

On the program, there will be no activity on Wednesday afternoon. You can take advantage of this to visit Névache or Plampinet, go to Briançon, relax, take part in a heritage tour (sundials or church and chapel frescoes).

Cross-country skiing

You, too, can't wait to do it all: in the morning, it's time to learn how to cross-country ski, so light but bulky all the same. With a lot of patience, your instructors will come up with lots of tricks to help you slide, turn and brake, and before you know it, you'll be gliding along the Clarée, over small bumps, turning, snowploughing and skating.

Snowshoeing
On snowshoes, after discovering Névache and its hamlets, you'll venture out in the footsteps of the white hare, wild boar, roe deer and maybe even the wolf. Day hikes will take you higher up into the mountain pastures and towards the refuges, and you're sure to catch a glimpse of the Écrins and Vanoise massifs in the distance.

Nordic hiking
The other way of being cross-country skiers. More than a ski, it's an ethic. In the face of over-signposting and all-out safety, it's still possible to experience the sweet pleasures of gliding, far from the groomed stadiums, where the snow is free to come in all its forms, from the best... to the worst! Freedom comes at a price. In Val Clarée, the virginity of our white spaces lends itself voluptuously to the most graceful arabesques. If the level of the group is sufficient, you can try Nordic hiking at the end of the week. If you think you're up to it, sign up for the Nordic Walking Discovery Course (form on request).

Sled dogs
You've been waiting so long to meet a sled dog, now you can! At last, you can pet them, harness them, harness them and try to steer the team: left, right, halt! Watch out! They're clever, and they're quick to let you push the carriage and rest!
There will be 6 to 8 of you for half a day, alternating on the sleds. You'll have about 40 minutes of driving time. At the beginning of the session, you'll have about 15 minutes of theory on the dogs to familiarize yourself with them, and the musher will give you instructions on safety and driving your own team: 1 or more teams follow the musher's training sled. If there are more of you than there are sleds, you'll take turns driving.

THE CHILDREN

They too can take part in a range of activities during the school vacations only
In cross-country skiing, they will take part in the activity from the age of 4, in collaboration with the Névache ski school, which is very close to us. From 4 to 7 years old, we take care of driving them and bringing them back. In the afternoon, a young girl will look after them at the hotel or outside by the terrace, where they can go tobogganing and make snowmen (included in the package).
From age 12 upwards, they can either join the adult group, or there can be enough of them to form a youth group: Nordic Adventure, biathlon, Nordic hiking, ski orienteering, night in a refuge, etc. (Supplement €100).
For snowshoeing, they can come with you for a half-day from age 8.
For carriage driving, they will be accompanied by their parents.
Tobogganing is at the parents' expense outside the other activities, or in the afternoon if they are well equipped. We can lend you the sleds. Please don't forget them outside.

Level

All activities are available from beginner level upwards. This holiday is for anyone who wants to relax in the snow and discover snow activities.

In cross-country skiing, a beginner group and an intermediate group able to ski downhill and stop in all snow conditions. At the beginning of the week, the activity is half-day, and at the end of the week, full-day outings are offered. Beginners must register at the start of the week.

For snowshoeing, you need to be used to walking for at least 4 hours. 15 to 30 minutes are needed to adapt to snowshoeing. Half-day and full-day outings alternate.

Nordic touring requires an average level of cross-country skiing, the ability to stop on snowploughs, half-snowploughs or not turning on all snow, or a red piste level of downhill skiing. This activity is offered at the end of the week to people who are sufficiently comfortable with cross-country skiing after the track improvement at the beginning of the week, and if the whole group can do it.

For carriage driving, you don't need to have done it before: you learn with the musher. You'll all take part in an introductory carriage-driving session. But be careful! Don't think that this activity isn't sporting: the session starts with learning how to harness the dogs, then follows a 3km loop on a sled. You'll take turns.
