In Provence, in the heart of the Var, 680 hectares of unspoilt countryside, 70 hectares of vines and 7 hectares of apple trees.
On the one hand, organic AOP Côtes-de-Provence and IGP Var wines; on the other, a historic heritage, a family tradition since 1802.
Château d'Astros: A journey through time in the heart of Provence
The history of Château d'Astros reads like a novel: an epic fresco spanning more than 8 centuries, combining Templar knights, Renaissance spirit and a family from Marseille.
The property has been in the Maurel family since 1802. Bernard Maurel is the current owner and Bruno Maurel (one of 4 children), a priest at the Jean-Joseph Allemand youth institute in Marseille, represents the eighth generation. Assisted by his nephews and nieces, he manages the family business.
The estate has always been dedicated to winegrowing, with over 70 hectares under organic farming.
We produce rosé AOP and IGP wines that are recognised beyond our borders.
We also grow organic apples on 7 hectares and olive trees on 1/2 hectares.
A team of passionate professionals welcomes you to share their terroir, their passion and their know-how.
You can take advantage of your visit to explore the estate on our many hiking trails, enjoy a tasting session with our experts or book a guided tour to learn the secrets of wine-making and hear about the history of the estate.
