The Domaine Comte de Lauze has been managed by its present owners since 1976. It consists of 9 hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 12 hectares of Côtes du Rhône. The cellars and wine-storage cellars, as well as the offices, are at the centre of the village.
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard is in the north-west of the appellation, on the road to Orange (the district of Cabrières). The soil contains clay and limestone with rolled pebbles, helpful vectors of heat and early ripening. The Mistral blowing across the Rhone Valley purifies and refreshes the vine. The red Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are made from a selection of two grape varieties: Grenache and Syrah. We also make a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape with Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussane and Bourboulenc. Harvesting is carried out by hand with strict sorting of the grapes. The Côtes-du-Rhône areas are between Sorgues, Courthézon and Orange.
