After several wonderful years in Paris working in media and pastry making, Patrick Chêne and his wife Laurence created the estate in 2014. The estate's wines quickly became a staple at the finest restaurants. Within ten years, Dambrun had become one of the leading names in the Ventoux appellation. Impressed by the quality of the wines and the beauty of the estate, Normand Lavoie, who had arrived from his native Quebec, suggested to Patrick that they join forces to give the estate a new lease of life. The creation of a new cellar and the acquisition of an additional 6 hectares were the first steps in this new chapter.
The vineyards of Domaine Dambrun are located in the heart of Ventoux. The terroirs offer great diversity, with mainly clay-limestone and sandy-loam soils. Ventoux is a listed natural site and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
The complementary nature of the 18 hectares we cultivate contributes to the complexity and aromatic richness of our wines.
We take great care in choosing our vats in order to find the perfect balance between the energies drawn from wood, cement, and stainless steel.
While benefiting from exceptional sunshine conditions and terroir, we put all our energy into ensuring that our wines are not too powerful or sunny. On the contrary, our ambition is to successfully enhance the expression of our terroir, with complex, balanced, and elegant wines.
We vinify and age our vintages in small volumes.
We meticulously craft our blends, optimizing the richness of local grape varieties as well as more unexpected ones such as Chardonnay. We favor gravity-fed processes, advocating a less interventionist approach to winemaking. Natural fermentation (without additives) takes place in truncated wooden vats before aging in concrete vats, tuns, and demi-muids.
