Family-owned since 1958, the Domaine has been passed down from generation to generation. In 1990, Edouard and Denise Castellino, now joined by their sons, took over the estate from their uncles and radically transformed it. Until then, they had transported the grapes to the cooperative winery, but they soon decided to create their own cellar, where they could make wines to suit their own tastes and requirements.
In 2000, the Castellino family created Domaine de Canta Rainette.
Named Canta Rainette, the estate owes its name to the little green frogs that have taken possession of the estate's spring pond, and which play a peaceful concerto every evening at dusk. The tree frog has thus become the little Queen of the Domaine. Today, the estate covers more than 30 hectares.
Situated in the heart of the Côtes de Provence appellation, on a gentle slope of south/southeast-facing hillsides, the Domaine's vineyards benefit from all the advantages of Provence's climate and geology. Flooded by the sun and swept by the Mistral, the vines thrive on a harsh clay-limestone soil that demands effort and tenacity, but gives the Domaine's wines their personality.
In order to produce quality wines in optimal conditions, the Domaine acquired a new, more spacious and functional cellar in 2006. Today, the Domaine vinifies its entire production in a winery equipped with a thermo-regulated stainless steel vat room. All bottling takes place at the place of production, a guarantee of authenticity.
