Domaine Houchart, located at the foot of Mont Sainte-Victoire, in the commune of Puyloubier, a stone's throw from the Via-Aurelia, was bought in 1890 by Aurélien Houchart, a friend of Cezanne and great-grandfather of Geneviève Quiot.
This estate, owned and operated directly by the Quiot family, comprises 90 hectares of vines in the Côtes de Provence and Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellations.
The Quiot family also owns a second estate in Côtes de Provence.
From 1898 to 1941, Domaine de Verlaque belonged to ancestors of the Quiot family. During the 2nd World War, the estate's owner was Isabelle, a cousin of Magdeleine Houchart. A ward of the state and an artist at heart, Isabelle was quickly placed under guardianship and her property sold to raise her and provide for her throughout her life.
After several decades, Geneviève and Jérôme Quiot decided to buy back the
Domaine de Verlaque back into the family fold in 2002, since the estate is only a few kilometers from Domaine Houchart.
In 2020, the family felt it was important to revive the estate's identity by giving it its own cuvée: a Côtes de Provence Rosé, all softness and elegance. The estate is closed to the public.
