From vines to saffron... ‘It grows where vines grow’ – this phrase, heard on a programme about this spice, convinced us to plant it HERE in Visan.
Saffron cultivation requires the same terroir as vines: stony soil that drains well!
Saffron comes from a very fragile purple flower.
It is picked every day for three weeks from late October to early November.
Harvesting and pruning require long and meticulous work, done entirely by hand.
