Way of the Cross

The view from the Garoupe Plateau is breathtaking—and well worth the effort... From the parking lot at Salis Beach, follow the promenade and James Wyllie Boulevard, pass the small harbor, and take Chemin du Calvaire (to the right at the bend) up to the Garoupe Plateau and the orientation table. You can return to the beach via the paved road. Take Route du Phare, then turn left onto Avenue Aimé Bourreau until you reach Boulevard Grand Bacon to rejoin Chemin du Calvaire and the seaside. You can also take the stone path between Route du Phare (across from the public restrooms) and Avenue Aimé Bourreau. The Bois de la Garoupe Before reaching the Plateau, this path takes you to the Bois de la Garoupe, one of the city’s most remarkable green spaces and a site managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral. You can also reach the woods via Route du Phare and Chemin Notre-Dame, then return to the seaside via Chemin de l’Ermitage and Avenue de la Salis. Must-sees: the Garoupe Chapel and its collection of ex-votos, the lighthouse (one of the most powerful in the region), and above all, the magnificent panoramic view. From the Chemin du Calvaire, you can access the Bois de la Garoupe.
