Parc des Rives du Loup

The Loup River rises in the high limestone plateaus of the Grasse Pre-Alps. It flows through valleys and wild gorges, before flowing into the sea between Cagnes-sur-Mer and Villenveuve-Loubet, at the level of the Côte d’Azur racecourse. Located a few kilometres from the coast, the Parc des Rives du Loup offers a haven of nature near some of the most beautiful seaside resorts.

A park with many faces

The Rives du Loup park covers an area of 55 hectares and offers a wide variety of landscapes.

To the west of the park, dark rocks, cliffs and steep gorges make up a wild and grandiose setting, which surprises the walker. Downstream, the valley widens and hosts on a flatter area: a mixed forest, of alluvial type.

Protected from the sun by a forest of elms, alders, hornbeams and laurels, the vegetation is abundant and surprising for the region. You can admire fragons (small hollies), which give bright red fruits (not edible). The ferns bear witness to the wet and shady nature of the area.

Many animals have also taken possession of the area. The Parc des Rives du Loup provides a habitat for a variety of species: badgers, wild boars, weasels, foxes, dormice cohabit with purple herons, kingfishers, tits.

A haven of nature at the gateway to the Côte d’Azur

The Rives du Loup park offers you a real haven of peace, nature and freshness at the gateway to the busy seaside resorts of Cagnes-sur-Mer and Villenveuve-Loubet.

You can lose yourself in the park, and follow the various paths laid out in the heart of the park as you please. You will be struck by the wild beauty of the place, and you will be surprised to stop in front of an unknown plant, or to listen to try to recognize which bird a melody belongs to.

An interpretation trail has been set up so that the whole family can discover the richness of the site, with several panels along the way.

Would you like to take a gourmet and convivial break? Picnic tables have been set up at the entrance to the park, on the Villeneuve-Loubet side. Toilets are also available nearby.
