From the Mediterranean coast to the high altitude meadows of the Southern French Alps, the plurality of climates in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur offers a renowned gastronomy. The local markets are a unique opportunity to take part in local life, while buying local products which are the promise of generous meals that you will share with your loved ones. A market is held in Annot every Tuesday morning throughout the year.

The historical and cultural heritage of the region also offers some singular treasures: churches or ancient abbeys, calvaries, houses of character, castles or manor houses… For example, you can visit the nearby medieval town of Entrevaux.

Annot, for holidays close to nature

The village of Annot has been classified as a “Station Verte de Vacances“. The destination is renowned for the beauty of its natural areas, and welcomes nature lovers all year round.

Hikers can follow the many signposted trails, climb the Baou de Parou or discover the sandstone boulders scattered through the forests.

Cyclists and mountain bikers will also find plenty of roads and tracks to get them out and about. Length, gradient, technical level – there’s a route to suit every level!

Annot is also well known to rock-climbers, who come from all over Europe and further afield to try out the routes carved out of the sandstone boulders.

The Pignes tourist train

This itinerary connects the city of Nice to that of Digne-les-Bains, crossing part of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes. This train offers an unobstructed view over postcard-like scenery, between lavender fields and chestnut groves.

The regular service makes three return trips a day between Digne-les-Bains and Nice. From May to October, the steam train offers a unique tourist experience.

Rural heritage in the spotlight

The Alpes-de-Haute-Provence is home to a valuable cultural heritage and a land based on know-how that has been handed down through the generations.

You will easily find a museum that showcases the know-how of Haute-Provence. During your visits, discover the Baden-Powell Scout Museum in Sisteron, the Bois de Méolans-Revel house, the Ubaye Valley Museum in Barcelonnette, the Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye Museum…
