The Verdon Natural Park
The Verdon Regional Nature Park has many faces, with its varied territories and landscapes: the Gorges du Verdon, impressive and wild, the Artuby, the hills of the Haut-Var, the lake of Sainte-Croix, the lakes and mountains, where pastoralism is still practiced, the Valensole plateau, the low gorges, watered by the now docile waters of the Verdon… There are many nature activities: hiking, Nordic walking, cycling, horse riding, via ferrata, climbing, tree climbing… Men have occupied these lands for thousands and thousands of years and have handed down to us a rich architectural heritage: oil mills, windmills, grain mills, medieval castles, oppidums, churches, chapels, oratories? Mountain agriculture is dynamic in the Verdon. The local markets and village grocery stores will invite you to discover local flavors: honey, goat’s cheese, lamb meat, vegetables and fruit, farm produce, olive products (oil and pasta), liqueurs, lavender…
