Museums and heritage
The inhabitants of the valleys of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department have shown, from generation to generation, the courage and imagination to exploit their land. Several museums will offer you exciting cultural activities. According to your wishes, you can visit the Gallo-Roman Museum in Saint-Martin-de-Brômes, the house of Jean Giono in Manosque, the lapidary museum in Riez, the Ubaye Valley Museum in Barcelonnette, the museum of Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye, the Miners’ Museum in Saint-Maime…
Discovering the Luberon
At the confluence of the Alps and the Mediterranean, the Luberon Regional Natural Park offers a great diversity of landscapes, between Pays d’Apt, Pays de Forcalquier, Montagne de Lure, Calavon valley, Vaucluse mounts, Durance valley… During your hikes, you will be able to observe more than 270 species of vertebrates (mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, amphibians…). With a bit of luck, you will be able for example to observe the Egyptian vulture, a species in danger of extinction. The Luberon can also be discovered by bike. From Oppedette, you can take the paths and roads of the Regional Natural Park, to meet the landscapes and soils that characterize it. The Luberon is also known for its many villages, which you can easily discover around Oppedette.
