The Ruins of Rocca Sparvièra

Located in the neighboring commune of Duranus, the medieval village in ruins of Rocca Sparvièra possesses a mysterious charm. Perched at 1100 meters altitude between the Paillon Valley and the Vésubie Valley, the rock of sparrowhawks is a ghost hamlet whose remnants defy the centuries.

In the Middle Ages, this village at the crossroads of trade routes was a prosperous transit center with a castle, a parish, and 350 inhabitants. Today, a melancholic atmosphere emanates from this grandiose site where solitude reigns supreme.
