Mercantour summits and valleys
At the extreme south-western end of the Alps, the Mercantour massif is a mountain with its feet in the water. The Parc du Mercantour is located between the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes. Discover the villages and landscapes of the Verdon, Var, Ubaye, Tinée, Vésubie and Roya-Bévéra valleys. You will be able to practice many nature activities. The amateurs of walking will be able to furrow the arranged paths. You will also be able to cycle along the paths of the Park, challenge the void by learning to climb, go down the Mercantour torrents in a kayak or discover the Mercantour landscapes on horseback… In winter, abundant snow covers the Mercantour valleys, making the happiness of the amateurs of glide. The large ski areas and village resorts take up their winter quarters and offer other activities: downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ski touring, cross-country skiing, dog-sled rides, fat biking… People have been living in these lands for thousands and thousands of years and have handed down to us a rich architectural heritage: medieval castles, wash houses, wells, fountains, chapels, oratories, churches…
