Préalpes of the French Riviera: the Alps with sea view
From the union between the French Riviera and the Alps were born the Préalpes of the French Riviera. The landscapes here are wild and grandiose: vertiginous valleys or cultivated valleys, forests… With more than 2000 plant species, the Park is home to a third of France’s flowers and plants, including 65 protected species and 40 species found nowhere else The fauna is exceptional: bird species (European nightjar, red-billed crab, rock swallow, pipit rousseline), reptiles and amphibians Nature is also a great playground for lovers of outdoor activities. Hiking is a popular nature activity in the Préalpes. You can also explore the roads of the Préalpes by bike, take a climbing course or try canyoning, or contemplate the landscapes of the Préalpes on a horseback ride… The authentic villages and heritage of the Park also appeal to vacationers. You will be able to admire historic milestones, fountains, wash houses, castles… Passionate producers perpetuate a know-how that is centuries or millennia old. Markets and grocery stores will introduce you to local flavors: honey, gingerbread, goat’s cheese, lamb meat, farm and market garden products, olives, olive oil…
