Bouc-Bel-Air

Tourism and travel guide

Located halfway between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, Bouc-Bel-Air is an ideal destination for exploring one of the most popular tourist areas in southern France.

In the Bouches-du-Rhône, the village has developed atop a rock around the medieval castle and the Saint-André Church. The narrow streets winding around the hill are home to old houses and small squares. Bouc-Bel-Air also boasts several chapels: the Chapel of the Penitents, the Sainte-Anne Chapel, and the Chapel of the Château de la Malle. Want to take advantage of your stay to visit historical ruins and monuments? You can admire the historical monuments of Bouc-Bel-Air (the Upper Garden, the Bastide de Montfinal, the Saint-André Church, the Oppidum of Baou-Roux). In Provence, you will also find a large number of museums, churches and chapels, castles, abbeys, and monasteries. Medieval villages are also worth visiting.

Hiking trails await you in the surroundings: you can easily reach the trails of the Tour d’Arbois departmental park and the hills of the Étoile and Rove massifs. Other activities are also available in Provence: cycling, mountain biking, climbing, tree climbing, horseback riding, and more.

Bouc-Bel-Air also invites you to discover the local gastronomy, with a weekly market held all year round on Sunday mornings. Shopping enthusiasts can easily reach the many shopping centers in the area: Plan de Campagne is just a few kilometers away, and the shopping centers and commercial streets of Marseille and Aix-en-Provence are less than half an hour away by car.

In the city or countryside, quality accommodations await you in or near Bouc-Bel-Air. Camping is popular in the South of France. You can also find bed and breakfasts and hotels with authentic charm. Organize your vacation by booking your accommodation online. To find activity ideas and excursions, you can contact the Tourist Office.

Les Jardins d’Albertas

Created in the 17th century, the Jardins d’Albertas are inspired by the Italian Renaissance. The gardeners and landscapers of the time carefully selected plants of Provençal origin to create a true Garden of Eden. Four successive terraces are adorned with statues, ponds, fountains, water jets, groves, and hedges, offering beautiful viewpoints and perspectives.

Listed as Historical Monuments, the Jardins d’Albertas are open to visitors. Numerous events are also organized in the gardens throughout the year.

Museums in the Bouches-du-Rhône

The Château de Bouc-Bel-Air now hosts cultural events throughout the year.

The Museums in the Bouches-du-Rhône department enrich the available tourist offer. We can cite the Réattu museum in Arles, Cézanne’s Cabanon of the Bibémus quarries in Aix-en-Provence, the Pavillon Vendôme Museum in Aix-en-Provence, the museum of building machinery and public works in Mallemort, the Pavillon Vendôme Museum in Aix-en-Provence…
