The Alpilles

Last relief before the Rhône and the Camargue, the Alpilles massif seduces tourists with its landscapes that offer an exceptional biodiversity. Since prehistoric times, men have shaped this 30 km long and more than 10 km wide territory. In the Alpilles, numerous nature trails welcome lovers of walking, mountain biking, horse riding…

The authentic villages, which for a long time lived from the cultivation of vines and olive trees, now welcome tourists. Daudet’s mill in Fontvieille, the castle of Les Baux, the archaeological site of Glanum, the quarries of Lights Ecomuseum of La Crau, the historical heritage of the Alpilles offers many treasures.

The Camargue bullfighting tradition

The Camargue has a long tradition of bull rearing. On the farms, known as manades, the gardians and herdsmen have been practising bullfighting games for centuries.

In the Camargue bullfighting games, participants have to win trophies attached to the bulls’ horns. The animals are not harmed during these games.

Many arenas around Eygalières offer Camargue bullfighting games.
