The Alpilles

The Camargue bullfighting tradition

The Camargue has a long tradition of bull rearing. On the farms, known as manades, the gardians and herdsmen have been practising bullfighting games for centuries.

In the Camargue bullfighting games, participants have to win trophies attached to the bulls’ horns. The animals are not harmed during these games.

Many arenas around Eygalières offer Camargue bullfighting games.
