The most beautiful beaches in Martigues

Between the Côte Bleue and Etang de Berre, the one nicknamed the Venice of Provence is also a famous seaside resort. Discover the most beautiful beaches in Martigues, and dive into the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea!

The beach of Ferrières

Located near the city center of Martigues, the Ferrières beach is the main beach bathed by the Etang de Berre. It is very appreciated by the Martégales and Martégaux people for its fine sand, its shady park, its playgrounds and its facilities: showers, toilets… Guinguettes are available for refreshments, lunch or dinner on site. Swimming is supervised during the summer season.

You can easily combine a day at the beach with a visit to the streets and canals of the historic center.

The Verdon beach (La Couronne)

The Verdon beach, located in La Couronne, 300 meters long, is protected by a large cove that shelters it from the wind. The beach offers many services, with a first-aid post for supervised swimming in season, showers and sanitary facilities, and the proximity of many shops and restaurants.

A facility has been designed for the handicapped, with adapted chairs available from Monday to Saturday upon reservation.

Still at the Couronne, the Couronne – Vieille beach seduces bathers with its picturesque atmosphere and clear waters.

The beach of Sainte-Croix

Crossed by the coastal path, the beach owes its name to the presence of a picturesque chapel that dominates it from the top of a cliff. The pine trees that border it offer a nice shade to swimmers. A first aid station ensures the supervision of the bathing. In the event of an overcrowding, you can easily find an access to the sea from the rocks, outside the area covered by the first-aid post.

Other beaches of the blue coast (Côte Bleue)

Martigues hosts several other beaches on the Blue Coast :

  •  La Saulce beach is located at the end of the coastal path.
  • The small Laurons beach, made up of sand and gravel, offers a wild and intimate atmosphere.
  •  The beach of Bonnieu, unsupervised, seduces by its wilder character, and offers a dedicated naturist area reserved for members of the French Federation of Naturism.
  • Carro beach is located near a picturesque fishing port where a fish market is held.
