The Berre Pond
This remarkable natural site north of Marseille has a unique ecosystem. Victim of industrialization in the 20th century, the Etang de Berre is today the subject of an ambitious protection and rehabilitation program. The waters are now clean again and the banks of the Etang de Berre are now home to beaches. The landscapes, typically Provençal, are crisscrossed by numerous hiking trails. The geographical situation is one of the assets of this remarkable place in many ways. Saint-Victoret, indeed, is located near Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, the seaside resorts of the Blue Coast and the beaches of the Camargue.
