The Queyras
With its high mountain landscapes, immense coniferous forests, valleys and high mountain pastures, the Queyras Regional Nature Park is a popular destination for lovers of freedom and wide open spaces. Skiing, snowshoeing in winter, hiking, cycling, climbing, paragliding, white water sports under the summer sun: nature activities are a must. The region’s terroir has given rise to tasty specialties, which you will appreciate after a day of sport.
Fortress of Mont-Dauphin
To protect the borders of the Kingdom of France, Sébastien Le Prestre, Marquis de Vauban, fortified a plateau overlooking the Durance. The fortress of Mont-Dauphin, listed by UNESCO, bears witness to the military architecture characteristic of the reign of Louis XIV. Once the ramparts, redoubts, bastions and gates have been crossed, you will discover an unusual village inhabited by less than two hundred inhabitants.
