Museums and monuments close to Aurel

Situated to the east of Mont Ventoux, this village is a nature destination. But you can also visit several museums and monuments around Aurel.

The Musée Municipal de Sault displays eclectic collections on prehistory, antiquity, the Middle Ages, weapons and an original example of Diderot’s encyclopaedia. There is also a library on site.

The Musée Marceau Constantin exhibits the works of the painter and visual artist Marceau Constantin. It is located in the village of Saint-Christol.

Mont Ventoux

Culminating at 1910 metres, Mont Ventoux offers spectacular views over Provence and the Alps. The roads leading up to the summit of Mont Ventoux are used by Tour de France cyclists and amateur sports enthusiasts alike.

In summer, you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, climbing, paragliding, horse riding and much more.

In winter, downhill skiing, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing are all popular activities. One ski resort, Mont Serein, is located on the northern slopes of Mont Ventoux.
