Bédoin

Tourism and travel guide

The village of Bédoin welcomes you to the splendid landscapes of the Vaucluse. Nestled at the foot of Mont Ventoux under the light of Comtat Venaissin, the village has retained all its authenticity. The historic center of the village features several shops and restaurants.

Outdoor activities abound in the Ventoux region. Bédoin is the final stop for cyclists eager to tackle the legendary route regularly used by Tour de France champions. Numerous trails weave through the trees, ideal for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding. You can also try rock climbing or paragliding in the surrounding area. The Curnier Combe is one of the geological curiosities near Bédoin.

The Ventoux region is renowned for its gastronomy. Every Monday morning, the large weekly market in Bédoin attracts crowds: known as one of the most beautiful “Provence markets”, it allows you to discover local specialties. From April to September, the farmers’ market highlights local producers on Friday evenings. Discover cheeses, charcuterie, honey, wines, and other local specialties!

Bédoin exudes Provençal charm with its narrow streets, old houses, shaded squares, and its Saint-Pierre de Bédoin Church built in the 18th century. Built in the 11th century, the Madeleine Chapel perfectly illustrates Provençal Romanesque architecture.

The Comtat Venaissin

The popes once chose this area of Provence, blessed by the gods, as the seat of their power. From the famous vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the villages nestled at the foot of Mont-Ventoux, from Avignon to Vaison-la-Romaine, the region has many attractions.

From Bédoin, you can easily reach several major tourist destinations in the Comtat Venaissin. We invite you to visit, for example, Le Barroux, a village located about twelve kilometers to the west, renowned for its castle and abbey.

The Mont-Ventoux

Bédoin stands at the foot of Mont-Ventoux. It is the starting point chosen by many cyclists determined to challenge and climb the Giant of Provence. You can also discover, in the region, many routes to be covered on foot or by mountain bike through the forests, or take the road that winds its way to the summit to enjoy a 360-degree panorama of Provence and a welcome coolness in summer.

On the southern slope of Mont Ventoux, at an altitude of 1440 meters and just a few kilometers from the summit, you can stop at Chalet Reynard. Enjoy a drink with friends or family on the terrace, or savor generous cuisine at the restaurant.

The Museums in the Vaucluse department

A nature destination par excellence, the Vaucluse also has a particularly rich cultural offer. Numerous museums await you in the Comtat Venaissin, on the slopes of Mont Ventoux and in the Luberon: you will appreciate for example the winegrower’s museum in Rasteau, the Lavender museum in Cabrières-d’Avignon, the Petrarque museum in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the model train museum in Saint-Didier, the toy museum in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the museum of the Work in Avignon, the lapidary museum in Avignon…
