The Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard
Located in the Rhône Valley, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard is one of the most famous in France. The red and white wines produced here have an appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC). The popes of Avignon already appreciated the local wines in the Middle Ages, notably Clement VI and Innocent VI.
You can walk through the vineyards, or stop at some of the wineries for tours or tastings. From Châteauneuf-du-Pape you can also easily explore the many vineyards of the Comtat Venaissin.
