One of the most beautiful villages in France

Built on a rocky outcrop at the foot of Mont Ventoux, the village of Venasque has retained its medieval charm. As you walk through the narrow streets, you can admire century-old houses, the remains of the ramparts, and three ancient towers, known as “Saracen towers”.

Dating from the 13th century, the church of Notre-Dame de Venasque houses a magnificent painting, entitled the Crucifixion, and a baptistery dating from the 11th century.

The Comtat Venaissin

Venasque is part of the Comtat Venaissin, a land that belonged to the popes until the end of the 18th century. The Comtat has managed to keep its own identity and condenses the best of Provence in a small area. Visit this unique territory, to meet a land of rare generosity, to discover authentic villages and grandiose landscapes, up to the summit of Mont-Ventoux culminating at nearly 2000 meters above sea level.

The Comtat Venaissin is also renowned for its local produce: fruit and vegetables, jams, honeys, wines, olive oil, lavender…
