We offer outdoor horse riding camps for children aged 8 to 12 who are comfortable riding at all three gaits, and for 12- to 16-year-olds, with two 7-day, 6-night stays available for each age group each summer.
Children stay in teepees and can take part, if they wish, in all the farm’s activities: milking the goats and making cheese, looking after the hens and, of course, the horses at the “Les chevaux de Roquépine” equestrian centre in Barles.
A week away from it all, living at the pace of the horses and nature, in a small group and the family atmosphere of a mountain equestrian farm.
In the morning, the children are invited to fetch their horse or pony from the paddocks in the mountains above the farm and to groom it. Then, we do the activity the children chose themselves the day before (bareback riding or free-range riding, trail riding, TREC, vaulting, classical riding lessons, swimming with the horses, etc.). We offer them 4 to 5 hours of horse-centred activities. Then a picnic, either by the water with the horses or at the farm.
In the afternoon, we usually go for a swim in the river or take part in indoor or outdoor activities depending on the weather (making horsehair bracelets, board games, large-scale nature games with an ‘environment and music’ activity leader, etc.)
