The most common way to experience the thrill of a hot-air balloon ride is to take a flight in one…
How the experience works:
The day before your flight, we will confirm your meeting times. In the event of bad weather, we will offer to reschedule for another date of your choice. We’ll meet you at one of our launch sites. You’ll watch as the balloon is prepared and inflated. You’ll climb aboard and set off for an hour of silent flight (apart from the occasional sound of the burner). You’ll land, and depending on the ground winds, the landing may be a bit bumpy!
The ground crew and your friends who have been watching will join you. Some will start packing away the equipment whilst others open the champagne to celebrate your maiden flight. Your maiden flight certificates will be presented to you.
Weather:
Hot-air ballooning can only take place in winds of less than 18 km/h (10 knots) and with no rain or turbulence. Although these conditions may seem very restrictive, there are plenty of opportunities for flights!
Flights always take place at sunrise (the time varies depending on the month).
A few tips:
- Clothing: as we do not rise above 1,500 metres, the temperature difference from the ground is minimal.
- It is advisable to wear a good pair of shoes
