The superpowers of plants For children aged 9 to 12
What if plants had secrets to tell?
This workshop invites children to become explorers, researchers and sound creators for a week's vacation. In the garden of LUMA Arles, exploration notebook in hand, they will study the plants around them, their uses, their stories and their surprises, before recording their discoveries in the form of audio capsules designed in pairs.
How does the workshop work?
After exploring the garden, each child will choose the plants that intrigue, surprise or inspire them. With the help of a cultural mediator, he or she will go and investigate with garden professionals: what are they used for? What do they hide? What do they have to tell us? Throughout the week, the children will record their discoveries in a personal research notebook filled with texts, photos, sketches and observations. This notebook becomes the raw material for their creations.
Guided by a professional sound designer, they will then learn how to put their explorations into voice and sound: story structure, sound recording, narration. Each capsule will be conceived as a micro audio-visit of the garden, in the style of a sound documentary.
On Friday afternoon, the children will offer a restitution open to their families and friends to share what they have experienced and created, through readings of texts, the presentation of research notebooks and the broadcasting of capsules in situ.
