The refuge is also called "chez Polyte", the nickname of the last owner of a ruined alpine house. Denis and his son Victor decided to turn it into a mountain refuge. A successful gamble. After 2 years of titanic work, the Refuge du Pic du Mas de Grave opens its doors.
At an altitude of 1944 m, the building is totally self-sufficient in energy: wood-burning stove, solar hot water, photovoltaic panels. A captured spring supplies the water. Whether you're here for a short stopover or want to put down your bag for a few days, the modern, cosy refuge offers rooms for 2 and small dormitories. With delicious, comforting meals, a sauna and incredible views of the Meije massif, it's the ideal place for a break from the hectic pace of modern life.
