Owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this protected natural area lies at the foot of the Maures massif, opposite the islands of the Port-Cros National Park. Renowned landscape architect Gilles Clément has created a garden featuring a mosaic of landscapes evoking the flora of the world's Mediterranean climates. A true invitation to travel, where all the senses are stimulated.
The garden has been ecologically managed since its creation in 1989. An educational site, it can be explored freely with the help of a map, an audioguide or a guided tour. Younger visitors can take part in fun activities that introduce them to ecological gardening and raise their awareness of the need to preserve the environment, both on land and in the sea.
Le Jardin des Méditerranées reveals its beauty and interest in every season; in winter, it takes on a special appeal with the blossoming of some forty different species of mimosa and other plants native to the southern hemisphere.
The Domaine du Rayol is an LPO Refuge and benefits from the "Esprit parc national - Port-Cros" label.
