A graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts et de l’Industrie Graphique in Paris, Dominique Rousseau has been based in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence for 25 years. With a passion for materials such as wood and leather, he transforms them to integrate them into their surroundings and bring out their best qualities. Dominique Rousseau’s main focus is the creation of knives made from olive wood. Indeed, driven by his passion for wood, he crafts knives incorporating olive wood for everyday use. People come to him with their family heirloom knives or their own olive wood, and he creates a unique piece by following the natural grain of the wood. The work is entirely handmade without the use of machinery, ensuring that each knife is a unique piece. LEATHER PRODUCTS All the leather goods on offer are handcrafted in the workshop in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. They combine the fine material of leather with decorative motifs inspired by regional traditions. A range of products is available for sale: bracelets purses hair clips key rings belts ... His workshop is located in the centre of St Rémy, where he finds inspiration day after day. WOODEN PRODUCTS The planks Dominique Rousseau works with two types of wooden products. I use only 100% French olive wood for all decorative items and olive wood from the Alpilles for knife handles. Made entirely by hand, their sizes, shapes and designs are determined by the natural grain of the wood. Each piece is unique.
