“Here, you won't find a shorter route between the earth and your plate!”
Le Petit Paysan, whose real name is Marc Gonfond, is an independent fruit and vegetable producer based in Maussane-les-Alpilles, in the heart of the Vallée des Baux.
Coming from a family of farmers spanning several generations (including three in Maussane), Marc was keen to take over the family farm. After learning from his grandparents, working with his parents and travelling extensively with his rucksack, he launched his direct sales business over 15 years ago, setting up a small roadside stall. This is how ‘the hut’ was born, as it is affectionately called by loyal customers and friends.
Since then, the hut has become not only the farm's direct point of sale but also a showcase for local expertise, with the presence of local producers and breeders (wine, cheese, etc.) as well as other short supply chain products.
In addition to the seasonal opening of the hut (from March to August), you will find vending machines accessible 24 hours a day, every day, to supply you with vegetables all year round!
A pop-up restaurant is set up in the summer under the estate's olive trees: see the presentation file at the bottom of the page for more details.
Le Petit Paysan also regularly organises small local farmers' markets (cheese, seafood, ready meals) at the hut several times a week.
