In a Theme Park

A few kilometres from Avignon, Parc Spirou has rollercoasters and family attractions in the combined worlds of Spirou, Lucky Luke, the Marsupilami and Gaston Lagaffe. To fill up on thrills in a fairground atmosphere, take a trip to Luna Park in Fréjus or Funnyland in La Seyne-sur-mer, on the Var coast. Less than an hour from Marseille, try Ok Corral for an immersion in the world of cow-boys and Indians! Adventure enthusiasts, pop over to the treetop-trail park, Indian Forest, in Aix-en-Provence. Say Hello to the Animals

Close to Salon-de-Provence, Zoo de La Barben is home to a constantly growing family of 650 animals: the park recently saw the birth of two baby dromedaries, deer and a little lemur! Created as an exotic garden in 1948, Zoa Parc, the Parc animalier et exotique de Sanary-sur-Mer also hosts a wide range of mammals, birds and reptiles in the available flora. In Carnoules, the Village des tortues (Tortoise Village) accommodates, for its part, more than fifty species from across the world. Climb to the heights of Sisteron to explore the vast Parc Animalier de la Vallée Sauvage in Saint-Geniez. Marmots, fallow deer and red deer enjoy a natural setting. Finally, to observe sea life, go to the Institut Océanographique Paul Ricard on the Île des Embiez.

Parks and Gardens

For Plant Lovers

Provence has lots of diverse green spaces. You can find classic gardens « à la française » like the Parc du Chateau de Sauvan in Mane and the Jardins d’Albertas in Bouc-Bel-Air. Others are dedicated to contemporary art: take a detour by the Jardin d’Eguiles! Want a surprising experience? The Jardin Conservatoire des Plantes Tinctoriales (Conservatory Garden of Dye Plants) in Lauris will help you explore plants from which colorants are extracted intended for paint and fabrics.

Relax in a Spa

Or at the Thermal Baths

At the heart of Haute-Provence, Digne-les-Bains has long been known for its thermal baths, which offer treatments, preventive mini therapy sessions, as well as a zen area with a hammam and spa. Near Manosque, the Thermes de Gréoux-les-Bains, of Gallo-Roman inspiration, will welcome you for a treatment or a spa holiday. Overlooked by an ancient castle and criss-crossed by shady little streets, this picturesque village was prized by many personalities who went there to « take the waters » in the 19th century. In a favoured natural setting, at the foot of the Garlaban, the Thermes de Camoins-les-Bains for their part offer treatments and fitness only 12 km from Marseille Also opt for the Spa du Castellet in Le Castellet and the Thermes Sextius or Spa Mazarine in Aix-en-Provence
