The Parc Naturel Régional du Verdon offers wonderful cycling opportunities. Freewheel across the vast Valensole plateau between wheat and lavender fields, stop off for a rest and stroll in the charming and typical villages of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Allemagne-en-Provence or Comps-sur-Artuby, pedal along the banks of the majestic Lac de Sainte-Croix and admire the heady vistas over the Verdon Canyon’s turquoise waters and steep cliffs. Gusty winds and wide-open spaces

A flat area, boasting vast, windswept landscapes, the Parc Naturel Régional de Camargue is simply perfect for cycling tours. It is also the arrival point of the ViaRhôna, a 815-km cycling itinerary running from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea. Head to Vélo Saintois in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer to get kitted out. Take the Digue à la Mer sea dyke to soak up the coastal views and its myriad of seabirds including gulls, sterns, herons and pink flamingos.

Featuring a string of hills and plains, the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles is criss-crossed with quiet and pretty secondary roads offering delightful bicycle rides through vines, orchards, evergreen oak forests and lavender fields.
