Etape 1AvignonA Meeting with History

This itinerary begins with a journey through history. Before you get on your bike, treat yourself to a cultural break at Avignon‘s famous Palais des Papes, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is also the time to explore Le Pont d’Avignon, made famous by the song of the same name. And, why not have a little shopping session? Then, hit the road towards Tarascon, to visit its charming castle and stroll through its little shady streets.

Etape 2ArlesAt the Edge of the Camargue

Now, head for Arles. The Arènes, the Theâtre Antique, or Alyscamps: here, Roman engineering will never cease to amaze you. After a good night’s sleep and waking in the cool of the morning, get back on the saddle, heading for Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. Your legs will have warmed up nicely. Now is the time to take a break to look at the ponds, the rice fields, the horses, and the gardian (cowboy) huts in the very wild Parc Naturel Régional de Camargue

Etape 3The Marais du VigueiratAn Untamed Wilderness

At Mas Thibert, park your bikes to explore the fauna and flora of the Marais du Vigueirat , which is home to more than 2,000 animal and plant species! Or, pop over to the Parc Ornithologique du Pont-de-Gau, to see the many species of birds, including the majestic pink flamingos. Your bike trip in the Camargue will finish on the vast, fine sandy beaches in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône.
