Budding sailors or sailing enthusiasts, you’ve hit the jackpot! Provence has many spots to learn to sail and fill in your sailing log, along the coastline or on the lakes. At the Société Nautique de Marseille sailing school, you will set sail for the enchanted coasts near the Phoenician city. A bit further west, CVM Martigues will guide you through the calm and brightly coloured waters of the Étang de Berre. A Festive Sailing Event

For one week, starting on the last weekend of September, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez brings 300 sailing boats and 4,000 sailors together each year. From the shores of the Golfe de Saint-Tropez, the public can witness a majestic nautical spectacle: coastal cruises by modern and traditional sailing vessels, Optimist regattas. The marine ballet is accompanied by onshore events like live bands and a parade with the sailing crews. Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is, first and foremost, a laid-back and festive atmosphere, in line with traditions and the peerless setting offered by the village of Saint-Tropez.

Septembre en Mer

A Month of Sports and Discovery

For one month, Septembre en Mer gives you a chance to take part in 200 marine events in various locations around Marseille. Hard-core athletes have a go at wakeboarding, kitesurfing, dragon boats, Polynesian outriggers or towed buoys. There is shiatsu for relaxation lovers. Also on the agenda: products that highlight the local terroir, and activities for your little ones. This maritime event is organised by the Office de la Mer.

Where Charm Meets Tradition
