The Top Cycling Events in the Région Sud

Events are subject to change and cancellation.

Road cycling races, mountain bike rallies, public timed trials, and more. Région Sud is a mecca for sports enthusiasts. We selected the top cycling events in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, which will delight those taking part as much as the spectators.

Reserved mountain passes

The mountain is yours!

Climb, push your limits, admire… all of this in safety, that’s the promise of the “cols réservés aux vélos” (mountain passes reserved for bicycles). This increasingly successful initiative is back in 2023 in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes regions! Throughout the summer, ride on the legendary mountain passes of the Alps alone, with friends, or with family.

L’Alps’epic

On the route of the Grande Traversée des Hautes-Alpes

Love cycling in the mountains? Mark your calendars for the Alps Epic! From June 17-21, 2023, you can choose from three race formats:

  • the marathon race, 3 to 5 days, with 50 – 70 km stages to do solo or in pairs;
  • the untimed ride, 3 to 5 days, open to eMTBs, with a short 30 – 50 km version or a long version identical to the race;
  • the Enduro, which includes liaison sections and special timed stages, solo or in pairs.

During the Alps Epic, you’ll cross the most beautiful landscapes of the Hautes-Alpes including lakes and mountain pasture. Plus, you will explore the Patrias Nature Reserve, the Parc Naturel du Queyras, and a part of the Parc National des Écrins.

As for logistics, the organisers take care of everything: post-race meals cooked with local goods, washing and bike maintenance, and massage for all the participants. Added options include group or high-class accommodation, luggage transport, shuttles for riders, and more. A unique mountain bike holiday experience to share with cyclists from 20 different countries!
