Thoronet Abbey
Built between 1160 and 1230 by Cistercian monks, the Thoronet Abbey is one of the three Cistercian sisters of Provence. The building is a true jewel of Romanesque architecture, based on lines of great purity and a permanent quest for simplicity and humility in the service of faith. It notably seduced the architect Le Corbusier, who saw in its discovery in 1953 an admirable encounter. The different rooms allow one to discover the daily life of the monks, in an atmosphere of permanent serenity.
