Description
The botanical garden of the Balaguier museum was created in 2008 around the plants' voyage and the botanical garden of Toulon's navy.
This garden, with its panoramic view of the sea, is made up of ten small themed areas evoking the journey of plants and their acclimatization in the Toulon harbor:
- The garden of scents, where aromatic plants reign supreme: sage, rosemary, lavender...
- The travel garden with plants from Australia: eucalyptus, acanthus...
- Grass garden: sedge, miscanthus
- The cactus and succulent garden
- Asian garden: black bamboos, water hyacinths
- The exotic garden: ferns, birds of paradise, cycads...
- Industrial and dye plant garden: linen, indigo
- Citrus garden: mandarin, lemon, sour orange...
- The medicinal plant garden: vervain, geranium, chamomile...
- The vegetable garden: heirloom tomatoes, Jerusalem artichokes...
