Description
Modest yet steeped in history, la Chapelle Saint-Laurent et Saint-Roch Chapel overlooks the Siagnole gorges.
Built in 1600 on a rocky outcrop along the former path linking Mons to Seillans and Brovès — now the road to Fayence —, it stands in a remarkable location. Still in good condition, it is one of the few chapels in Mons to have retained its original form.
Placed under the protection of Saint Lawrence, invoked against fires, burns and skin diseases, the chapel is also dedicated to Saint Roch, patron saint of pilgrims and protector against the plague. Above the altar, a painting depicts both saints.
