The Annonciade, Saint-Tropez’s museum of modern art, founded in 1922, serves as a reminder that the town was one of the most vibrant centers of the pictorial avant-garde in the early 20th century, thanks to Paul Signac, who arrived there in 1892 aboard his yacht, L’Olympia.
The avant garde of painters taken by the southerrn light brought the little fishing port to life in the late 19th century. The very fine collection of fauve, nabi and pointillist paintings of the Musée de l'Annonciade recalls the stay of Paul Signac and his friends... A beautiful tribute to the light of Provence.
