Description
Nestled between the sea and history, this natural harbor is a true invitation to travel. Fortified as early as 1550 by the Dukes of Savoy, it became “Port Royal” in 1713, when they ascended to the throne of Sardinia.
Throughout the 18th century, the site underwent a transformation: a lighthouse was built, followed by a dry dock, a shipyard, and a blacksmith’s shop—all evidence of intense maritime activity.
Now focused on recreational boating, the port has managed to preserve its authenticity. Listed as a historic monument since 1990, Port Royal de la Darse offers a timeless stroll, where every stone tells a story of the past and the sea accompanies every discovery.
