Sainte-Marie Castle

Historic site and monument, Historic patrimony, Castle in Bruis
  • The village square and the circular fountain are partly bordered by the remains of a seigniorial residence in the mannerist style, which belonged to the Rivière family.
Built on the basis of a quadrangular donjon from the 12th and 13th centuries, the main building is also flanked by a circular tower. A tower once stood at each corner. The round tower features canon loopholes and a Renaissance bay window. The square tower hosts a gypsum fireplace from the 16th century.
