Lucy and Jorge Orta, a British-Argentine contemporary artist duo, were chosen to create the five fairies, inspired by the legends and stories of the Huveaune Valley.
The artists drew inspiration from the history of this coastal river, as well as from the myths and legends associated with it, to create five sculptures—benevolent fairies installed along the banks of the Huveaune— thus tracing a path that stretches for about thirty kilometers.
You may have already caught a glimpse of their silhouettes, without ever knowing the story behind these amazing sculptures. Gyptis, Manon, Marie, Ophélie, and Ubelka have been watching over the Huveaune for more than 10 years, along the roughly 40 kilometers that this Provençal river flows to the sea.
